Snoring Appliances

We all know what a serious problem snoring can be!  And until recently, there was very little you could do about it except to move to a different bedroom from the snorer!  But now we have a way to reduce or completely eliminate this annoying habit.  Dr. Joe Smith or Dr. Karen Smith Saundry can take impressions of your teeth and have a snoring appliance made which you would wear at night when you sleep.

The most elaborate type of appliance is called a SomnoDent FlexIt is a two piece appliance, one component each for the upper and lower arch.  The appliance acts to slightly open your mouth and move the lower jaw slightly forward to open the airway in your throat and allow the air to flow more freely and reduce the patient’s snoring.

There are other types of appliances which may be more appropriate for your particular case but all you need to do is schedule an appointment for an examination or mention you concerns when you’re in for your regular exam and cleaning and either doctor can get you started on a path to a better night’s sleep!
