Dr. Karen Smith Saundry
Dr. Karen grew up in nearby Aliquippa, graduating from Hopewell High School in 1980. She then attended the University of Pittsburgh earning a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. After graduation, she traveled across the state to study and graduate from Temple University School of Dental Medicine in 1988. She returned home to join her father Dr. Joe Smith Sr. in his Aliquippa office and her brother Dr. Joe Jr. at the Wexford office. She has continued to practice in both offices for 29 years.
Dr. Smith Saundry is committed to offering her patients the most progressive dental treatments, concentrating her continuing education on restoring dental implants and cosmetic dental restorative procedures. She is also well versed with the interactions of medications with current dental health and the use of oral appliances in both sports activities and destructive oral habits. Dr. Karen completed the Invisalign certificate program and offers this treatment “in house” to her patients.
Dr. Karen is married to Kevin Saundry, a Robert Morris graduate originally from Hamden Connecticut. They have two sons. Their oldest, Tyler, will be entering his junior year in college while pursuing his collegiate baseball career and a degree in statistics and analytics. Their son Trevor is a recent graduate of North Allegheny High School. He was a varsity lacrosse player defending their 2016 WPIAL lacrosse championship and will continue to play this fall for the Harford Owls, a junior college in Maryland. He will be studying criminal justice in hopes for a career in Homeland Security and Immigration.
Depending on the season, when she is not in the office, Dr. Karen can be found in her yard working on her flower beds, in the stands at a lacrosse or baseball game or cheering loudly at a Pitt game! She is a current member of the Pitt Alumni Association.
